And as people recover from rushing to purchase enormous bouquets of flowers, eating candle-lit meals in darkened restaurants, playing Barry White songs endlessly on repeat, and watching Sleepless in Seattle from under warm blankets on couches ... one should seek a sense of renewed perspective after the excessive loving-up of another Valentine's Day.

And so I say to you: Listen to Shipwrecked, by the Gothic Archies! It can be found on their myspace site. Never has a song so plucked the heart-strings with selfless acts of decapitation, all in the name of love.

And I am not a cynic ... I just cannot contain my laughter every time I listen to it -- which is repeatedly at the moment.

when a beginning is definitely not the end

The second worlds abound podcast is entitled The Voyage. And 'voyage' is a particularly apt term: I have just finished rewriting the beginning of this particular short story for the fourth time. Yes, the fourth.

In the case of every rewrite -- once the flaws were pointed out to me, or leapt out at me -- it was a necessity.

the blog is dead ... long live the blog!

The time has come to retire the my old blog and officially transfer mjohnsullivan.com over to a new hosting machine (thanks Ruairi, I really owe you one) and a new infrastructure: the old site was WordPress based; the new runs on Drupal. The original will still be accessible here.

Well, I have finally completed the new worlds abound podcast site, and in the process created new sites for simplykohl.com and mjohnsullivan.com. I’ll do a little more tweaking and testing this weekend, and then the old blog -- much like my last iWeb site -- is going to be gracefully retired.

Well, the hour draws close; at least, it had better draw close shortly, because this web site has taken just a little bit longer than I thought it would to install and configure. This is not altogether surprising, considering my unfortunately tendency to tinker incessantly with things like this ...
